Has your ego ever been bruised????
On vacation one year I went to a Dude Ranch in Wyoming. It was one of those ‘Macho’ things you do once in a lifetime. We ‘learned’ to rope and ride, spit and cuss. We thought we were pretty tough.
As part of the usual activities, a neighboring ranch invited guests from our resort to participate in a cattle drive.
After watching 20 make-believe cowpokes riding around whooping and hollering, I rode up to the ranch owner and asked her how many cowboys it normally takes to drive a herd of that size.
“One,” she replied.
“One?!” I said incredulously.
…………”And a dog,” she added.
When I first moved up here to Canada I had this idea that I was going to dazzle all my friends with my Cajun and downhome southern cooking. At first they all acted like.. Oh that is DELICIOUS! Then when I tried to cook the same recipes again I got told by my roomy that, in all honesty, some of the recipes were just not their “cup of tea” so to speak. Well talk about an ego downer!
