Western tack that runs large?
So I had gotten my horse a western headstall a few days ago. It turned out to be way too small. I asked the worker at the tack shop the next day they were open and she said western head stalls run in just one size, so if it doesn’t fit you can’t really fine one the right size.
Are there any brands that run a bit larger than the norm? I don’t really care what style I just don’t want lots of silver.
Hey there =) I don’t think Your tack shop worker knew what they were talking about. Unless you have a draft type horse you should easily be able to find a headstall that fits. Try looking at jeffers, smith brothers, state line tack, Rod’s….. they all have web sites if you google them. I’m not sure what breed your horse is, but my aunt has a quarter horse mare that’s 16.1h and built like a warmblood and she uses headstalls made by Martin Saddlery. Oh and idk if you care or not, but if you looks on the ends where the bit attaches, get the headstalls that have a quick change end on them. They are WAY easier to use. The ones with little leather laces dry rot and break and the ones with chicago screws get corroded and rusty and they can be almost impossible to get undone if you leave them for a long time.
