Western pleasure show clothes?
So starting next year I am going to be competing in western pleasure for my colleges riding team. I have never competed before and am not entirely sure what I need in the way of clothes. I know I will need a new pair of boots (mine are really worn out from stable work, riding, and training), but I don’t know what else I need. I think my coaches said jeans were ok but I’m not sure what else. I don’t need to worry about matching the horse as we are not using our own. So what else do I need?
Also if you could provide sites or places in the USA Midwest that sell what I need at a fairly good price that would be great. Don’t worry about the boots I already know someone to order through were I can get them at a discount (it’s great knowing a competitor/breeder/trainer).

Also what do you mean by “current” show shirt (as compared to western button up)
I did IHSA, and while chaps aren’t actually required, I never saw anyone not wearing them. I wore the same thing for IHSA shows as I do for open and AQHA shows. That includes boots, chaps, pants to match the chaps, a “current” show shirt (not just a western button up), and a hat–all matching/well-fitted. Obviously you can’t plan to match a horse or pad color, since you don’t get a choice.
You can find an inexpensive pair of chaps (and show shirts) on Ebay, from Hobby Horse (catalog and website), Schneiders (sstack.com), or any other dealer. The higher the quality, the higher the price–but if your coach tells you you can wear jeans, then she may not expect you to have the highest quality anyway.
Also, I don’t think you’re showing Western Pleasure if it’s IHSA–the only western classes they offer are Horsemanship and Reining. WP judges the horse only, and since you have no control over the horse you ride, it’s not offered. If it’s NCAA (but in that case I think you do bring your own horse, or the college’s horse) then you might be doing WP–but NCAA is even more competitive than IHSA, I think, so you’d definitely have to look the part.
EDIT: By “current” show shirt I just mean one that’s in style. A western button-up shirt is more suited for a rodeo or barrel racing, not a nice horsemanship class. If you go to Hobby Horse’s website, you’ll see good examples of show shirts that are on the low end of the price range, but still meet your needs.
