what would happen if you bred an ankole watusi to a Longhorn?
the ankole is reputed to have the largest horns and are unrelated in any way ancestor or descendant of the longhorn breed.

im speaking of the Texas longhorn
i do not own these cattle lol let alone am i breeding them this is a matter of curiosity
It is certainly possible and the Ankole Watusi has already been used in crossbreeding programmes to increase milk quality (in particular the percentage levels of butterfat). See source website below:
The crossing that has already taken place is unlikely to involve Longhorn (do you mean English Longhorn or Texas Longhorn? Because surprisingly both are miles apart in terms of genetic constitution. The English Longhorn is fast gaining a reputation for high quality meat, so much so that it has recently been removed from Rare Breeds Survival Trust lists due to increased populations.
The Ankole is renowned for low cholesterol meat (the lowest of all breeds, I believe) so you may have hit on a winner and you might some fine beef to add to an exhibition set of horns to add to your castle wall! One last tip: If the animals prove shy when you attempt the crossbreeding make enquiries about artificial insemination.
