Used Horse Tack For Sale

I will be needing a saddle soon?

Hi,
At my old barn all of the horses had there own tack. But now at my new stable, the more advanced riders have their own saddle. I was wondering how to measure the saddle to fit me? I ride at a sales barn so I ride horses of all different sizes and I could use other peoples tack if I really needed to. I ride hunters and jumpers. What are some good brands that I could look around online for? Thanks!
I ride hunter and jumper meaning I ride english and jump
Thanks though

The best way to find a saddle that fits YOU is to go to a tack shop and sit in as many different saddles as possible. The sales associate will be able to help determine which size fits you best, and by trying out several, you can decide how deep a seat, long or forward a flap, and type of knee roll you prefer. Keep in mind, however, that a saddle that appears to fit you perfectly on their “saddle horse” may feel quite different on a REAL horse.

The hard part — and more important part — is getting a saddle that will fit all these HORSES. I realize that many students at hunter/jumper barns do try to use their own saddles; they did at the facility where I used to board, too, but I personally never understood how their one saddle would be appropriate for all the horses…maybe if all the horses were more or less the same type, height and build…You do have the option of purchasing one with an adjustable gullet system: Wintec, Bates, Collegiate, and Thorowgood make adjustable saddles; there are others, as well. They are pricier than fixed-tree saddles, but you may be able to find a used model.
Check out www.doversaddlery.com, www.statelinetack.com for new gear; once you find a new model you like, do a web search and see if someone has a used one for sale.
