how do u calm down spooky/excited horse.?
How do you calm down a spooky and excited, hiper, energetic horse?? while riding it.
hes never been like this. and his eyes are fine. had the vet look at them.
the horse is an english/western horse. trained and ridden every week for 7 years. he is 10 now.
i am confident, not spooky, doing what I can to relax him. i have been ignoring it–but its now at the point where im riding him, everything is going great, and its like a bear jumps out of a bush to attack him–he spookes, then gallops away from it. its so dumb! and he does get grain! ALOT EVERY night!!!! I will talk to them about cutting back
do lots of desensitizing ground wrk with him. walk him on streets with cars walk him over tarps, hang balloons up, hang up metal cans(like coke cans, make sure there som place where he cant mess with them and accidently cut his lip). bring a whip wen ur walking on trails and hit signs and bushes with it, and run it up and down fences while u wlk. Basically try to familiarize him with anything that he cud find scary while ur on the ground, and make sure u dont jus wlk away wen he gets scared at somthing keep him ther and tlk to him until hes OK with it. This will help him be less spooky. And also if he starts to get ancy and excited, work him. do circles, yeid him on his front and hind quarters, back him up, talk to him… keep his mind on u and keep him thinking so he wont hav time to worry about other things. If he gets lke this in shows make sure u wrk him alot the week before so the day of he isnt obligated to go run away from a scary bush
