i need to know what Simmental beef cattle are tolerant to.?
i have an assignment for ag about simmental beef cattle and i really desperately need to know what they are tolerant to.
They tend to be more heat tolerant and insect resistant than European cattle such as Angus and Shorthorn ( Simmental are considered a Continental breed). Though probably not as tolerant as bos indicus breeds such as Brahman.
They are also known for their growth potential and for being one of the more maternally oriented continental breeds.
This is a good website for information on cattle breeds. http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/cattle/
Also here is a link to the American Simmental Association website: http://www.simmental.org/ .
“They have bred-in ability to adapt to hot and cold temperatures, to dry or humid climates, to range conditions or confinement rearing.”
