I HAVE A QUESTION……….?
I bought my horse a bag of Buckeye Safe n Easy today. I am going to start switching him on it soon.
This grain is very lowfat, it is starch free, and full of fiber, 12% protein, 6% fat. It is a wonderful feed….but…first of all it’s $19 per bag….and also…
When he is sound again I am going to be competing him a lot, and riding him every day. I need him on a grain that will give him ebough fat to burn off, and this one doesn’t seem good enough…
SO….which of the options should I go with?
1) add corn oil to this feed when i feed him
2) but another higher-fat grain
I do not want a feed with molassas in it so don’t suggest Omolene or any other molassas-feed.

If you’re going to drive that far to get feed, you might as well go to the CFC. If you like textured, you’d love the stuff Luna’s on. If you fed it in moderation, it wouldn’t make him too tubby. It’s 10% protein, 10% fat (I think..), but it’s a really good performance feed. They also have others that are less fat, but still performance feeds.
You might want to try Legends 10%/12%. My trainer has ALL of her horses on that.
