Is this horse worth the asking price?
At my barn there is a gelding for sale. He is 15, and has been around rodeo his whole life. He’s got a great manner, and is calm. He isn’t the prettiest horse, and does have a few scabs. He has a dished arab-like face but is a Quarter. The owner is asking 10k for him, is this an okay price? Would you pay for him? I like him a lot, but the cost..
This horse would be used in rodeo. Used as a roping, and goat-tying horse. It’s really for my younger friend, I’m just asking for her.

Allot of horses can perform well on rodeo ground…but aren’t worth nearly that…
If he is going out every time and performing well and performing exactly the same… then maybe…
Does he do strictly roping and tying?
Does he run barrels at all?
Will he perticipate in the entrance parade well and carry a flag?
Does he strictly head or heal, or is he fine doing both?
Does he run on ‘bad’ rodeo ground?
Does he run well on muddy ground?
Is he placing in the money every time?
Does he have any bad habbits of vices?
Does he require any injections or special shoeing?
Sane and Sound?
If the answers to any of those are no… Then the answer to your question is no…
I think you can find a horse that is a great all around rodeo horse for less money and that places in the money constantly… You just have to look…
A well cared for horse in any sport is not old at 15… 15 is still in the prime of his life, but he isn’t going to last as long as a 6 year old will in the arena…
