Red Dead Redemption Buy Horse Where Is It

Is Red Dead Redemption similar to Gta 4 in terms of gameplay?

I’m thinking of buying RDR, but because the gameplay looked similar I’m kind of skeptical. Of course it’s in the west and there’s horses instead of cars, and hopefully no social missions. But the Gunplay looks like GTA4’s where you instantly lock on, which makes the game easy, and takes nearly no skill. As does the dead eye targeting. It looks great but how does the gunplay differ from GTA4’s or is the basically the same??

Also is it better than Gta 4?? because I thought Liberty city looked good but was far too dreary and empty.

Thanks

In general the gameplay is exactly the same; free-roam, main story line, side quests, challenges etc etc. The gunplay is a lot tighter and more responsive than GTA. It does has a lock-on feature but your aiming must be very close to the target for it to lock on (you can free aim and then tap aim button a second time to lock on.) The dead eye meter has 3 stages that you work your way up to. You will need the dead eye in some situations because you’ll be getting shot at a lot and you don’t have a high health meter or body armor like GTA. The visuals are done very well but you will find areas that are “dreary and empty.” It has a more in depth good/bad system where your actions dictate how others treat you.
