What are the weight requirements for horse riding?
My grandmother has pancreatic cancer, the docs gave her another 4 months. She keeps talking to me about her old horse (Misty), that she would ride all day and night when she was younger. She talked about her very passionately and regrets not being able to ride again before her passing.
I want to suprise her, by taking her to my friends ranch and helping her ride a horse there. She is still strong enough to do it, but it would have to be soon. The only problem is, my grandmother is a little on the hefty side. And when I told her she should ride again, she said she was too fat.
What are the weight requirements for riding a horse? No special/exotic breeds (I don’t know much about horses, sorry if my terms are wrong lol) just the standard ranch horse. Thanks
I’d estimate her at 350lbs, maybe more.
Horses are extremely strong and I don’t think your average horse would object to your grandmother’s weight. Just make sure your friends horses are quiet and willing – yes different horses do have different personalities!
So long as there are capable people who will be on hand to assist your grandmother if necessary she should have an excellent time.
It is a wonderful thing you are trying to do and she should be proud to have you as a granddaughter!
