English to western horse?
How can i get my English dressage horse to run barrels and do cutting poles?
she is a foundation leopard appaloosa.
I am going to my cousins ranch this summer and he is strictly western does everything you can think of in rodeo on horseback. while i am strictly English. Any advice on how to start my horse on barrels and cutting poles?
I am only doing this as a play day. so my cousin and i can ride together. and so i can show him my horse is better than his ha ha ha just kidding

okay well western is sooo different from english.
the horses heads are held different and the speed is different and the way you sit,the way you hold the reins.. everything
but poles you need to just walk your horses on the pattern alot for few weeks to get it stuck in your horses head..
barrels same thing you gotta go through the pattern a lot just walking and jogging.. you have to teach your horse the pockets of each barrel…
and for cutting your horse will prolly be scarred of cattle if its english.. so just get him use to cows and teach it to slide stop and to turn quickly..
everything should be started out really slow..
