My son wants to see where beef comes from? My wife is angry. Why?
I want to take my son to a slaughterhouse to witness the killing floor to see where our meat comes from. My wife is angry and says I am out of my mind. I want him to see how other creatures suffer to serve man.
With that said, I figured I would make it a party as he is turning 5. should I go to macdonalds before or after?

Just before I turned five, my Dad took me to the slaughter house. He had me wait in the van for a bit, then said I could get out and go look at the cows.
I asked him why I’d had to wait before seeing the cows and he explained they’d been about to kill the pigs inside and he didn’t think I’d have liked that.
Forty five years later, I still view that as a golden oppertunity missed. At that age my mind was building itself on experiences. I just accepted what was what and only questioned out of curiosity. So they killed the pigs? Fine. Only I’d have been fascinated to have learned, by experiencing it, how. My Dad explained, but it’s not the same as seeing the whole deal for yeself, I’m sure.
I’d say the child can form a more rounded opinion by seeing than by listening to either of your verbal explanations.
