How much would someone pay for a young Quarter Horse gelding?
At my barn, the horse I ride is for sale for a quite high amount, and I was wondering how much someone would realistically spend on him. He is about 15 hands (maybe taller) he is chestnut with a dorsal stripe, he has a blaze, he is about 8 yrs old, he is a quarter horse. He has a very quarter-horsey look if you know what i mean, muscled, big hindquarters, he does English/jumping but it looks like he would excel in western to, and because I have made him turn very tightly, i think with training he could barrel race. So, how much would you pay?
he is an excellent jumper with a beautiful disposition, but not some kid pony, he is truly beautiful
well, they are asking over 20,000 for him and I thought it was a bit much
It depends on quite a bit. There is really no set price. if he has nice bloodlines, he’s young, nice conformation and a good show prospect, some people think they can get that much for a horse like that. And of they can, good for them, but I honestly wouldn’t pay more than 3,500 for a horse with similar attributes. I would say look around for another horse who’s less expensive, but still a nice prospect.
