Scotland – Are there any horse rescue shelters in the Central area?
I am interested in getting a Shetland Pony. I have plenty of space (13 acres!) and I have experience etc so I am not looking for advice along those lines. I have seen plenty Shetlands for sale but I love the idea of rescuing one. For England the RSPCA has a great website where they list pretty much all the animals needing re-homed, but the SSPCA here in Scotland doesn’t seem to do the same. Short of phoning every centre in Scotland and asking, I was wondering if there is anywhere people knew of that took in horses that they then subsequently re-home? I am finding it difficult to find anywhere that isn’t just a “Home for Rescue Horses” or “Why not adopt one of our horses and get a photo etc”.
As it says I am in the central area but I can obviously travel within reason.

Scottish spca website has a list of animals available , horses and ponies are occasionally available but not all the rescue centres have facilities for keeping larger animals.
I dont know of any horse rescues in the central area , there is one up near Fraserburgh called willows perhaps they would know of any nearer you.
