Need help! owner wants horse, but they wont give him to her!?
my friend has a horse and she kept it in her friends name so that the ex bf would keep him for free (boarding) the friend moved to georgia, and now the horse is not getting proper care, no vet or farrier, no shots ext. and they wont let the real owner take him, take care of him ext. she believes the coggins might be in her name is this enough for her to take him? there are no bills of sale and if there was its in georgia.
is there any right way of taking him? she also wants to know if she registers him pinto in her name, will he then be hers finally? there is no proof of parents. no paperwork on him, hes a no ones horse, but she paid for him, and has been the care giver. friend is no longer friend and will not help. thanks in advanced!
also how do you register pinto? do you have do have dna samples and such of parents? or is it send in pictures of said horse and a reg name and its done? also how long may this take? thank in advanced for all the help, this horse needs it.
Legally I don’t think that there is anything that your friend can do. The way I understand what you wrote is that your friend bought a horse (without getting any receipts for payments or pay off of the horse). Furthermore your friend then had their other friend do everything (vet, farrier, etc.) in their name so that your friend could get free board for the horse. I don’t believe having the coggins done under her name will be enough for anything. Everything else for the horse has been done in someone else’s name and she has NO receipts for the purchase or the care of the horse. I would tell your friend that she should have done everything above board, instead of trying to get out of paying money to care for the horse. If she hadn’t been so concerned about getting free board then she wouldn’t be in the position that she is in now. If she couldn’t afford to pay the board herself then she shouldn’t have been getting a horse. You should never trust anyone else when it comes to the welfare of your animals. She can fight it if she wants to but she will just be wasting her time.
