3 year old Percheron Gelding’s?
OK so I was at a nearby Percheron breeders ranch a week ago, this guy is a really good guy, he’s in his 60’s and his son helps him take care of these horses. He’s a pretty private breeder, he gets his business by word of mouth from other people or in my case people who happen to be walking their horse who popped the fence back home. Anyway his Percheron’s are some of the sweetest horses I have ever met, but I noticed the 3 year old’s he had for sale had really loose skin on their chests, is that normal? All of them had it but their older sires and dams didn’t have it.
Idk they seemed healthy and if i were too buy one of course I’d have a vet check.
We bought a percheron gelding as a 2 y/o. He had the same thing, but since we started riding him it has turned into muscle & is no longer flabby. Have a vet check in to be on the safe side, you always should when you buy a new horse, but I don;t think it is anything to worry about.
Tip: Don’t baby percherons. They grow up to be really big, & if they don’t learn manners when they are young, they never will. ugh I hate unruley horses.
