Will my compost be ready quicker in a tropical climate?
I’m planning an organic small farm but am just learning the basics. I read somewhere that you should wait 60days before using cow manure directly on your plants. We have cows and I’ve noticed that if we wait 60days the dung is gone! Am I correct in thinking that the whole composting process would also finish more quickly?
You are correct. Most of the composting work is done by bacteria and other micro-organisms, and these work at a much faster rate in a tropical climate. This is why you never see layers of leaf litter in a tropical rain forest.
