What are typical varieties of forage needed when producing organic beef in a grass based system?
I am writing an essay about organic beef production, but i cant find any names of grasses one would want in the field…help please
Other answerers are all correct. Your mix should include 35% alfalfa, if pH and climate are suitable (6.8-7.5). If pH is lower, use red clover. That level of legume, along with the manure, will provide all needed nitrogen for the grass species.
