Off The Track Thoroughbreds For Sale

Pulled Suspensory Ligament…?

5 year old, off the track thoroughbred gelding, 16+ hands pulled a suspensory ligament, had time off and is now for sale.

With supensory issues, how does this affect the horse in jumping and dressage? I’m an eventer and plan to be eventing this horse, but i don’t want this past issue to flare up and make him lame. Has anyone ever dealt with this particular issue before? Any information is appreciated.

I would not purchase a horse that has damaged a suspensory ligament for the purpose you have in mind. There is a very high rate of recurrence in suspensory ligament injuries, and the demands of eventing would not be recommended for a horse with this history. Injured ligaments are never as strong again even after completed healing.
There are newer treatments, but no guarantees even when they are employed.
