Natural horsemanship – where to start?
So I really want to start parelli.. to get a good bond with my horse and just improve his respect for me all round, I’ve heard parelli is a good technique for gaining respect and trust and i think it also looks fun and interesting.. my school break is coming up so I wanted to start stage one groundwork with my horse, but i don’t know where to start really.. i know i need a rope halter and a ‘carrot stick’ thingy, but what dvds if any do i need to buy? anything would be of help.. just some advice for where to start.. thanks :]
I know for a fact it can work wonders as lots of people I know have used the techniques and they have worked very well. So if you have something to say about how much Parelli is a total scam, I don’t want to know.. thanks:]
Well first off, congrats on starting Parelli! I’ve been doing it for a while now and I couldn’t be happier! I’m going to warn you now that a lot of people don’t like it and think that it’s a big scam, that is makes the horses babies, dominant, ect. but it works for me and a TON of horsey people that I know. It teaches you and the horse to respect each other and to think as partners. I’ve seen it work wonders for me and my mare, as well as killer horses that trainers have said there was no hope for,
and for wild horses It’s not always easy, but it’s a lot of fun and your hard work really pays off!
The website has levels that you can buy. Each level has the dvds and information you
will need. Start off with level one. Just go to Parelli.com and click on Shop.
There, you can find the rope halters, carrot
sticks, and dvds. They are a bit pricey so if that doesn’t work out for you, I have seen tons of the Parelli stuff on Ebay.
I hope that I’ve helped you, and I hope that you give Parelli a try. Just remember that you have to stick to it to see results. It’s not going to happen over night. But trust me, it’s worth it! Kandi, my mare
