Mini Cattle Breeds

Does a purebred dog live longer then a mix breed dog?

Well i have 4 dogs, 2 purebreds (Australian cattle dog and a minaiture foxie) and i have 2 mix breed dogs (mini foxie x maltese and a chihuahua x???? we were told maltese shiztu but he doesnt look anything like it)
What dogs usually live longer? purebred or mix bred?
Whats the oldest one of your dogs has lived to???
just curious.
Thanks :)

It would depend on the dog’s history, pedigree, what environment it’s living in, how it’s being taken care of, what it’s fed, etc.
You can have a purebred dog that doesn’t make it past a year old because it was from irresponsible breeders that didn’t care enough to do health tests, to make sure they didn’t breed two closely related dogs, etc. – and therefore it happened to have a genetic defect or degenerative disease.
You can have a mixed breed dog that has the same issue. Irresponsible people/breeders brought the litter into this world without thinking about common health issues both/all breeds the dog is from has, and they caused an entire litter to either die prematurely or live with a chronic disease.
You can have a purebred dog that lives in perfect health with no signs of old age, and will be with you for 15+ years. These are dogs from breeders that have taken necessary steps and care to ensure a healthy litter so no diseases, defects, or illnesses are added to the blood pool.
You can have a mixed breed dog that lives in perfect health with no signs of old age, and will be with you for 15+ years. These are the lucky dogs that happened to be out of a lucky breeding caused by irresponsible owners/breeders. There’s a slim chance that mixed breed dogs will live long healthy lives with little issues from aging, whereas there’s a very large chance that purebred dogs will. Not because they’re purebreds – but because they were from responsible breeders.

Feasibly speaking, you could have a litter of mutt dogs that are in perfect health and taken care of in such a spectacular manner as a responsible breeder would do – but no responsible breeder would put mixed breed dogs onto this world without having guaranteed spots for them in working homes. And even then the litter should only be able to completely excel at the job, and do it better than the dogs already in existence.
Otherwise, you’re just putting mutt dogs into this world with no reason other than to “see what happens” or to “make money” or to “have another foo foo”. They are what tend to fill shelters more, and there’s no reason to bring more of them into existence when there are plenty of mutts in shelters already.

Usually the smaller the dog, the longer it lives. The larger the dog, the shorter the lifespan.
