First time cow/calf owner, I have some questions?
A friend of ours gave us 4 longhorn cows. He said they where all pregnant. 2 of the cows are somewhat friendly but the other 2 run from me.
One of the skittish ones recently had a calf, but when I went to feed them this morning the calf was gone! I don’t know where it is, do cows hide there calves?
I also want to know when the others will have there babies, will the other 3 give birth soon? do cows get pregnant at the same time?
ok this is my last question: can I partly bottle feed a calf? if I feed him sometimes and his mom feeds him the rest of the time will the calf trust me more?
I live on a small ranch and I have ducks, chickens, cats, dogs, rabbits, and horses. so I am very good with animals 
No, cows won’t hid their calves. If she’s been separated from her calf, it’s possible the calf died or was taken by a predator. I would go look for it. Is the mother a first time mother? Because often in mammals, first time mothers don’t know how to take care of their first babies and the baby will die. It’s natures way of training a mother. Sad, but true.
Cows can get pregnant at different times, as in not on the exact same day, but just like humans, there is variation in birthing times.
It really depends on how the mother reacts with you being near her calf. Do NOT go into the pen with them and try to feed the calf. If you’re at the fence line and the calf comes to you, that’s one thing. But be very wary of the mother. She will protect her calf at risk of her own life. You don’t want to separate the mother/calf bond either.
