dog registering………?
Hi, I was on my local Animal Shelter site. and came accross this information, in one part it says no dog or cat can leave the shelter unless it is registered. Does that mean any dog or cat up for adoption? Or just any dog or cat that the owner wishes to claim? Any info would be great:)

“Dogs and cats caught whilst wandering or lost are held for 8 days to be claimed by the owner and a Release Fee is payable. Any dog or cat which is impounded and is not claimed within the 8 day time period becomes the property of Council, and may be sold or unfortunately destroyed.
A new change to State Government legislation now states that no dog or cat may be released from the pound unless it is registered.
The Lost Dogs Home is Council’s contractor for animal control services and has the responsibility for delivering stray animals to the Pound and providing emergency services for impounded dogs, cats and livestock.”
It means that any animal that is taken in by the shelter is required to be registered before leaving. So yes, that means that even an animal an owner wants to claim because they were picked up.
