Dogs are killing my livestock.?
hello I live in alabama I have a small scale farm,and there a small pack of small dogs[that are my neighbors]that’s killing my chickens.they have killed 2 roosters already and the rest are in the pin.there trying to get to them to do i have a right to shoot them for in dangering my livestock? I live in alabama and need to know if there’s a law against it.and plus when the neighbor comes out probaly goin to cuss me and get mad I would like to tell him I have a right.thanks for any comments.
I am not an expert but I think you do have the right to protect your livestock, even if it means killing the dogs. What I would do tho is to contact animal control and ask them what your rights are. Make a report to the about the dogs and their activities. Also talk to the neighbor about this. They should have to pay for the damage/loss. If there is no animal control, call the local law enforcement agency. Make a complaint. Put it on the record.
