Breeds of livestock help?
Does anyone know a good dairy goat breed that will cope well in a sub-tropical to tropical climate (i.e Northern NSW, Australia)? All the major breeds i can find originated in Switzerland, and cope better in cool climates.
And also, are there any specific ALPACA breeds? Or are they all just.. Alpaca? And what are some hairy goat breeds (not fluffy Merino types) with a good temperament?

The Girgentana is a good dairy goat that originates in Sicily (sub-tropical climate).

I think it is pretty cool at sight, too, for its twisted horns resembling those of the Markhor (Capra falconeri).

As for Alpacas, there are some “breeds”, not so definite and different from each others as for goats and sheeps, but I don’t know their names. However, Alpacas are not a true species, but a domesticated form of guanaco, that splitted from the llama (other domesticated form of the guanaco) after domestication because of human selection.
