loan agreements horses?
is it possible to have a loan agreement with a pony so you can take him on full loan but not have to pay for all the care?? i cant afford a pony but ant one on full loan? thankz
Normally if you have the pony all to yourself you should be the one paying for it.
I once let my pony go out on loan and I paid for her shoes and vet’s bills, but that was a very unusual situation. I was just about to go travelling so she had nowhere to go as the person who was supposed to take her let me down at the last minute. I sent her to an old friend and as my friend was doing me a great favour I wanted to make it easier for her.
That would be pretty unusual though, unless you happen to have a desperate friend with a horse! Why don’t you look for a part loan agreement. Then you would have the pony for three days a week (usually one weekend day). The pony’s owner has the pony for the rest of the time and they know the pony really well so they can give you advice and tips. This type of arrangement is much cheaper and you won’t have to arrange things like vets and shoeing – you just have to look after the pony on your days. Ask your instructor if she knows about any ponies for part loan in your area. She can also advise you on whether the pony will be suitable for you or not. I hope that helps, and good luck.

Alfred J. Munnings: Images of the turf and field : a loan exhibition for the benefit of The Jockey Club Research Foundation : April 28-June 3, 1983, Wildenstein, New York In the 1980s, Munnings world may appear to represent an era long past. But if we close our eyes a moment, we can still see an adorable little girl walking her pony through a garden; we can hear the frenzied cheers as a winner crosses the finish line at Epsom or Newmarket; we may even hear the click of a polo mallet as it squarely clouts the wooden ball at a vanished Meadowbrook field…. |
