A question about HORSES?
My parents are thinking of moving us to New York, but out in the country, maybe to a place with a stable because I horseback ride. If so, we’re considering getting a horse, but we need to know how much it’ll cost. How much does the average horse cost to buy? How much does it cost to keep per year? Any advice? Do you think keeping a horse is worth it?
its not just buying the horse it is keeping the horse, and depending if you want to show or what not a horse can cost from 800 bucks to 50 grand or more (depending on how broke the horse is and what they do. Then after you bought it you have to feed it. Average depending on where you live for the hay it can cost 3 to 6 dollars a bale depending on what hay you want, Then the grain costs. Horses aren’t like dogs where you can get a bag of food and have it last a month. Then the cost of the farrier to come out every 6 weeks , and there are shots every year for the horse. If you show or want to take the horse somewhere there is the trailer to think about. If you need training on the horse that costs money every month. If you show a horse there are costs for that 2. You need show attire and tack. Depending on what you decide to ride oh yeah the tack cost! If you decide to board the horse that can cost from 200 to 800 a month. Horses are really nice to have but like i said it is just not buying the horse it is taking care of the horse. Goodluck with everything!
