My girlfriend has been offered a job out of the state of CA, can formal probation be transfered to Arizona?
She is on probation for simple possession of drugs. Here in CA she doesn’t have a job and her PO was complaining about her living situation which she can’t change because of the expense. In Arizona she has a job running a motel, a supplied vehicle for transportation, a 2 bedroom apartment, access to horseback riding and off road jeep tours, and its basically in the middle of nowhere in the desert… miles from any city of any size. The owner of the motel is willing to talk with probation to confirm these facts.
Misdemeanor drug offenses are not eligible for transfer to another state. If the charge is a felony, it would qualify. The process can be cumbersome and take a while. Bruce was right. She would have to initiate the process through her PO. Then the transfer will hinge on Arizona’s approval. see the below link for interstate transfer info.
