Horse Trailer Hay Rack

considering trading in my current trailer?

I like my current trailer a lot. Its a 4 star trailer, with 4 horses, back tack area, ramp, covered hay rack, there is side compartments for storage, and the generator. Drop down windows etc. It has a 12′ LQ area.

For those of you with LQ trailer.. What do you like about yours, and the stuff it has on it? Im thinking maybe trading in for a 4 horse, with a mid tack and bigger LQ.

Thank you!!
Thanks Ron for your answer. Just want an upgrade is all, money isn’t an issue.
Thanks Pickled pigs feet!

My current LQ has one slide out – I’ll probably get another wiht a slide out. I like my current one, But when im gone for the weeked its nice to have more room I guess :)

Do a lot of research before going bigger. I went that route and it was a mistake, I have found myself hating my 38 foot LQ/4 horse and wishing I had stayed with the smaller trailer. Bigger trailers=lower fuel mileage, more room needed to maveuver and bigger camping spots. Sometimes less is more. For me, the essentials in a trailer are a comfortable bed, heat/ac, fridge, bathroom and grey water tank, stove and an awning. A TV is nice too for when the weather turns bad. I’d rather sacrafice a little room for ease of towing though. Another option you could look into if you want a larger LQ but don’t want to haul anything longer than what you have is to look into trailers that have slide-out rooms. That’s the route I plan on going next time.

Something like this kinda floor plan: http://www.shadowtrailer.com/images/16.5ft-DSO-living-quarter.jpg

Edit- Have you looked at trailers with slide-outs on both sides? They can be pretty roomy without getting too long. Or, if you find something you like and know someone with a trailer of similar size maybe they’ll let you haul around to see if you’re okay with the size. Gawd, how I wish I had done that. I went from a 22” to a 38” and it was just too big of a jump in size for me. I hate pulling the beast although I admit it is nice having so much room and the horses really like the box stalls in the back (it was designed for drafts, I sectioned it off into 2 box stalls and have dividers to insert if I wanna haul more horses). But hey, if your comfortable pulling a big trailer then the sky is the limit! My friends got a SWEEEEEET deal on a Sundowner at Congress last year by waiting until the last day and making a rock-bottom offer right before they were getting ready to haul the leftover trailers back. They snagged a huge brand new last-year’s model that was totally loaded and retailed for about $80,000 for just under $60,000. If you wanna go big and top-of-the-line look for a deal like that. Saving twenty grand is nothing to sneeze at.
