horse riding trouble!

The horse i ride is used for childrens pony rides. When i try to mount him he dances around and has even had both fornt feet on the mounting block! I ride him in a grass field so he is a pain because he wants to eat and just sometimes just stops. I do have to use my whip alot but it can cause him to buck though hes naver had me off. Once he gets going he trots lovley but he will only allow one canter then stops dead and wont move until you untack him. Im told hes a dream on a hack and im taking him out on one in a few days so got any tips for then? thanks louise x
The hack wont help your dead stop problem…
I bet that the saddle is bugging him… unless he always acts like this.
Pony’s have this attitude problem. You should probably stop using the whip and try some Natural horsemanship techniques… Teach him to respect you … it’s very effective!
