How to teach a horse to do a flying change?
I am currently employed for the school holidays to exercise, train, feed, wash, rug etc. a persons horses. There is one horse that is green broken, and she wants me to work with this horse every day (of course giving the horse a day off during the week). I was just wondering how I can teach him to do a flying change over time?

Zakiit- He is almost fully trained, he is nearly 5 years old its just little things like this that will complete his training. He has been backed since he was three and he’s a quiet young thing!
Start with simple transitions, trot to canter, canter to trot; making sure that the horse is on the correct lead. Then try some walk to canter, again on the right lead. Then try cantering in one direction, go down the centerline; once in the middle walk, and then immediately pick up the opposite lead, remember to change your weight to the opposite side. In the beginning, you might have to do quite a few steps of walk but eventually you will hopefully beable to get it in under 3 steps. Then eventually you will have a flyling change. Remember to do this from both sides, and go both down the centerline, across the diagonal, etc. Good Luck!
