Horse supplies, tack, and riders apparel?
I first have this question is what is the difference between coolers, turn out blankets, and stable blankets! Also can you give me a list of everything I will need to own a horse such as saddles, riding boots, stable bandages, gloves, bridals, feed buckets, lead ropes, etc! I need everything to riders apparel to horse tack to shampoo! Also what are all the vaccinations and dewormers I need to give my horse! Also can you give me links to all your favorite bridles, saddles, riding apparel, all of that stuff! I know I know nothing about this stuff! Lol! I am learning and starting to take lessons! I am jumping so all the tack should be for jumping! Price does not madder!
Also I need all the girth, stirrups, etc you get it!
cooler – a fleece or mesh blanket used to cover the horse after washing/sweating/hardwork
turn out – a waterproof blanket for turning out, can range from a lightweight sheet to a heavy winter blanket
stable – usually not waterproof blanket for indoors
okay, here’s a basic list of what you will need;
horse
bridle +reins – cavesson is fine
bit – depends on the horse – ask your instructor what’s best for your style
saddle – get a general purpose as it’s versatile. you can always buy a jumping one later
tendon boots
over reach boots – i sugest the velcro ones
headcollar
lead rope
stirrup leathers – invest in anti-stretch ones
stirrup irons – i only ride in Thorogood ‘Tuff’ ones – they are a plastic polymer, hard as hell but super light weight
stable rug
outdoor rug
cooler
saddle cloths – at least 2
girth – make sure it’s long enough
lunge line
travel boots
for the stable
buckets – four or five – at least
feed buckets – you can get great ones made from rubber – bendy and indestructable
grooming kit – body brush, dandy brush, hoof pick, plastic curry, rubber curry, pulling comb, metal curry, i also use a human hair brush for tails as i find it easier.
mane and tail conditioner
shampoo
first aid kit
feed store bins
saddle racks etc.
saddle soap and sponges
hoof oil/conditioner
haynets
for you:
boots – invest in a good pair of boots or gaiters. make sure they have a zip and that they are the right size for your calf as well as your foot. they should be black or brown.
jodhpus – white for showing, and any colour for day to day.
shirt
tie – plain coloured
jacket – black or navy for sj
hat – black or navy to match jacket.
gloves – black or brown leather is best for showing, but not necessary.
body protector – advisable for showjumping, mandatory in x-country.
