Riding hat: Safety standards?
I live in the UK.
I have a Harry Hall Elite Riding Hat. Im going to Equine College and I need a new riding hat because mines a bit tatty.
I was going to just get a new one like the one I already have, but when I spoke to a tack shop, the lady said that it didnt have a kite mark, and that I wouldnt be able to use it in college.
The Label says: Ce En 1394
I looked at other hats she said have a Kite Mark but they are all double the price.
What I want to know is, Does my hat have the kite mark or not? Because I always thought it did, until the shop keeper said it didnt? Im confused.
I will buy a different hat if I have to, but I would rather not spend the extra money…

the kite mark is the registered tradesman of the British standards institute,the kite mark is a public document and printed on any product that manufactures believe complies with the kite mark.
not all hats are stamped some slip through the net if its not stamped it does not meet the safety requirements,a lot of manufactures sell hats that are not stamped,if its not stamped then it has not got the kite mark approval
