when should i start feeding my horse flax?…….I want him to be nice and shiny for the spring show?
You want to be feeding coat supplements when the spring coat of the horse is starting to form, which is probably a good 8 or more weeks before they actually start shedding. I usually start upping the supplements in January or February.
However, there is no real downside other than cost to feeding a bit of a coat supplement year-round.
