can feeding mellon to hens make them stop laying?
I am new to the chicken business – they are my pets and all have names. We have a large hen house and 1800 square feet of fenced yard for them to live in. We have 9 hens and they give me about 5 eggs a day but after feeding them cantelope rinds (which they loved) they are only giving me 2 eggs a day. An old farmer told me that mellon will make them stop laying for 3 weeks….true?
