Feeding dogs table scraps on top of regular meals, good or bad?
My dogs get fed wet food with kibble twice a day. Recently, my grandfather has been giving the dogs a couple pieces of table scraps with every meal. I have noticed that all three of the dogs have gained weight and have started to have bad gas since my grandfather started feeding them table scraps.
So I’m just wondering if I should put a stop to the table scrap feeding or let it continue.
A tablespoon or two, sure why not? It won’t hurt them and why waste food. I think they will get used to the table scraps and not have gas for too much longer. I wouldn’t give more than 2 tablespoons though. I always give my dogs some and they do just fine. Cut down a little on their regular food to make up for it with the calories. I put like a tablespoon of bacon fat to a cup of hot water and pour it over two dogs dinner. Stuff like that. Pan drippings from meatloaf, not a whole lot, but grease, oil is goof for them. I will give a little vegetables here and there, but not much, maybe that is where the gass is coming from?
