How will my cat react when she has her kittens?
I have a cat that is ready 2 have kittens during her pregnancy she has taken in a stray kitten found outside a feed mill living on horse feed the kitten is between 6 and 7 weeks old they play fight and cuddle together will the mother cat continue this or turn the kitten away? the kitten is female as well
Did the cat allow this new kitten to suckle from her? If so…be prepared to possibly lose all the new kittens (assuming they dont all die during birth) because you allowed the new cat to take the colostrum from the kittens.
To answer you – she may push this new one away because her focus will be on her kittens. Its normal. She has a mother instinct kicking in right now, and nothing to take care of. She put the energy toward the older kitten. Once she has her kittens, she will hopefully put all her energy into taking care of them.
DO NOT allow the older kitten to nurse off her, now or after the kittens are born.
