Feed Broiler Chickens

why arent my chicken growing fast?

i have jumbo cornish x rock hens. their 10 weeks old and their 5 pounds. they look small is it normal.
i been feeding thm correctly and giving them broiler grower.

i thought they were going to be huge like the regular chickens .

Five pounds seems like a good size considering how old those birds are. Cornish Rock males end up around 3-4 pounds in six to eight weeks and females need even more time. Sounds like your birds healthily sized if they are five pounds. Compared to regular standard birds your chickens are huge for their age.

Birds can look small to us considering their size, and the pictures of the birds always look larger. And as for the birds in the store I wouldn’t even compare home raised broilers to them.

To the person above, standard Cornish can reach 8 pounds as adults, bantams however are about 2.6 pounds. It is the bantams that are half sized, and many breeds of chickens have bantams.

Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions feel free to contact me via email.
