How to stop cribbing? Help please?
My horse is a die-hard cribber and it’s getting to the point where I’m starting to worry. She has 24/7 turnout with her pasture buddies, so it’s not really from boredom but more of an ingrained habit. Anyway, I’ve been using a cribbing collar, but lately it’s not as effective as I’d like.
Can’t use electric fencing – I’m a boarder at the barn. I’ve tried Cribox and I know it works, but I can’t appy it to every surface in the pasture. I’m looking at sprays (Farnam No Chew, Cribbing Eliminator, Bitterlicks, StopCribbing) and considering a feed supplement (right now I can only find Farnam Quitt Cribbing).
So what’s worked for you? I want to try a combination of things, so any suggestions you have are great!!
My neighbors used to have a cribber, and she was always biting my fenceposts. I tried putting Tabasco sauce on her favorite post, and she actually got so mad that she pulled the post right out of the ground.
