I foster a very old gelding who was rescued; he was almost starved to death. I’ve had him 4 years now and my?
vet wants me to increase his equine senior to 10 pounds a day. Ive been using a 14 quart feeder to put about 4 pounds in (a guestimate), but now I need to know how is 10 pounds of equine senior converted in quarts.
A five gallon pale on average full of feed weighs about 32 lbs. So 1/3 of a pale will work. It is ends up to be about 1.6 gallons so you need about 6 1/4 quarts. You can also try a house scale. Most won’t work with less than 40 lbs but if you weigh yourself holding a bucket, then add feed until you are 10 lbs heavier.
