any idea how much an equine clinician should be paid for doing a demo clinic at a feed store?
Working with a trainer who is signing on to do some 1 day demos at a chain of feed stores & we need to know how much the store should be paying him to do this. There is no good way to find out this type of info! Help!
this trainer already has a following just trying to get bigger & hit areas where he’s not known yet so free is out of the question; he needs to cover his expenses…
Free is fair, or the trainer should even be willing to pay the store to allow him/her to demo there since there will be work to be done to accommodate the demo. Until you are a proven trainer, in demand, and with references, no one usually wants to pay you to advertise yourself. You often pay (sometimes heavily) for the opportunity to sell your services on someone else’s property and to affiliate with their good name in the business world. Expenses as a businessman include cost of advertising. This is a great opportunity for a trainer to advertise and gain clients.
Until he gets known, he is still in the position where he probably has to spend money to make money. If he can’t afford what it costs to advertise his service, then he may be a good trainer who fails as a businessman, which happens every day. I wouldn’t pay a dollar to see an unknown trainer try to sell me his methods. But if it is there to be seen while I happen to be around, I might wander over and watch a free demo.
