What supplies do I need to raise a 4-H goat or sheep?
Please be specific as possible, and prices would be nice, too. I can’t find anything on the internet about it. Are the supplies different for meat goats, dairy goats, and lambs? Thanks in advance!
Also, can you answer this question?

If I did a lamb, it would be a market lamb.
Prices will be specific to your area and may vary greatly depending on the breeder you get your animal from, the type of feed you use and the quality of feed you use.
I showed a lamb in 4-H and used a medium-grade sheep feed. I believe they make multi-purpose feeds for sheep and goats, and also feeds that are specific to market goats and dairy goats. I would suggest talking to leaders in your 4-H group, other 4-H’ers who have shown before and to livestock supply stores regarding what feeds are available in your area and what is best to use. Also, if there is an Agricultural Extension office, they are a great source of information as well. When I showed a lamb it was the very first year for a lamb show at our local fair and my agricultural education teacher didn’t really have any experience with them; I was able to get some great information from the Agricultural Extension and they gave me about a 40-page hand-out with information on feeding and raising a lamb with information on how they were judged in show, etc.
Also, be aware that among lambs there are also sections for market lambs and for “fine-wool” lambs, if there is a fine-wool category in your area. You would not want to purchase a fine-wool lamb for a market competition, as these lambs are raised for the quality of their wool and don’t have the same strong musculature as a market lamb.
As far as what is needed for other equipment for the lamb – on a basic level: a small shed or barn; a well-fenced area; large, easy-to-clean containers for food and water; a halter and lead-rope; and access to a trailer for transportation are minimum requirements. I simply walked and jogged with my lamb on the lead rope daily for exercise; but many will choose to use a 4-wheeler, pony their animal with a horse or use another option to help ensure their lamb is getting optimal exercise.
Here’s a great Web site I found that helps to chart progress and get information on raising show lambs:
