Regarding Dairy and Beef Cows… ?
I live in a semi rural area and we pass cattle to get to our house…
I’m curious as to whether brown cows (beef) are ever used in milking like the black and white (dairy) ones…???

A beef breed cow will not be used in a commercial dairy because they don’t produce enough milk to be economically viable. However, beef cows can be milked, and the milk can be used for drinking, cheese etc. Usually beef cows are not milked because they are expected to raise their own calves.
Basing the type of cow milking vs beef, on color is tricky because there are brown milk breeds (Jersey, Brown Swiss as examples) and black and white beef breeds (Belted Galloway and Black Baldy as examples), also Holstein (the black and white ones I assume you were referring to) bull calves and “retired” dairy cows become beef.
