Cuttinh horse–do I have to ride in a cutting saddle?
I don’t have my cutting saddle at home right now, but I need to keep my horse in training. I have a few saddles but only one has a back cinch and the stirrups are wayyyy to long for me. Can I ride her in a normal, non-back cinch saddle and still keep her in training?
You really need a saddle which has swells on the pommel to help keep YOU in when your horse is working cattle. The horse will be making a LOT of frontend moves and if you ride her in saddle which has smooth swells, you may end up coming out of the saddle and either ending up on the horn (OUCH) or on your mare’s neck.
Check your saddles and see if you’ve got one that will fit what you need, if not, then how about selling some and buying one that fits your needs?
