information on raising meat sheep?
hi, i am considering raising 3-4 ewes and breeding them every year for lambs which would live _months allowed to run around in a spacey paddock, be socialized, be happy and raised organically, and then shown in 4h before going to meat. i do know about the general care of farm animals as i take care of and learn about them. i just would like to know the pricing, good meat sheep breeds, health care, how long to wit beefore slauter, how to creep feed, shelter, ect… thanks
to those who say people who love their animals would never eat them: welcome to the world of farm animals, and it is insulting to say that one who smartly and with care farms there animals, to say they do not love them. the more who raise and sell the meat of happily raised animals the less factory animals there will be. thank you to those who understand and gave me helpful awnsers!
I keep sheep too, I started with suffolk x dorset but then we were introduced to Barbado hair sheep – lots LESS work than any of the wool breeds and their meat is supposedly healthier to.. and tastes better even in older sheeppricing will depend where you live of course..
