What can we do to get ride of the algea in a 1000 gal cattle trough?
We have a 1000 Gal Metal water trough for cattle that has algea in it. It’s to heavy to try and dump to clean and we have alot of cattle that live in the desert of arizona so we can not let it go dry to clean it. We tried gold fish and they don’t stay alive for very long in the arizona 115 degree temp. It is well water. What can we do to safely get ride of the algea?
You might have to add a small amount of chlorine bleach to kill the algae. A large animal vet could advise you on how much to use so that you don’t harm the cattle in the process. My well pump has a small reservoir for bleach so that tiny amounts mix with incoming water to kill any pathogens. Is the algae present actually harmful to the cattle in any way, or just unsightly?
