Why does God refer to himself as ‘Us’ and ‘Ourselves’ in Genesis 1:26?
“God said, ‘Let us make man in our own image and in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild beasts and all the reptiles that crawl upon the earth.”
He was not talking to himself , he was talking to the angel that became Jesus who was with God when he created all other things.
Colssians 1:15-17 explains it.
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together NIV
