size of saddle for my horse?
Im trying to find a good fitting saddle for my horse, hes 14.3hh welshD X arabian and i think he has a medium width back? Most online saddles you can buy are in inches, any idea what size his should be? thanks
The saddle needs to fit the rider 1st and fore most. Then from the riders size the tree width and other aspects are to be considered. You don’t want the saddle to sit too low on his withers and if its too high you may need a lift to help it fit properly. It can’t pinch him or hurt his back. There’s no point in getting a 17 1/2 inch saddle if you are going to be lost in it. Go to a store instead of online that way you can actually see the saddle and fit it to you in the store. Check the store policy to see if you can take it home to check it’s fit to your horse as well. Wrap your horse in a clean bead sheet so you do not scuff or dirty the saddle in case you need to return it. If you are still growing and it is an expensive saddle better get it a 1/2 on the bugger size so it will fit you as you grow.
