Anyone know anything about Antiques.. when did they use horse’ hair to stuff chairs?
Last summer i bought a rocking chair from my neighbor who was on his way to rehab and selling everything. my hub is a master carpenter so he could tell it was old.. it has brer rabbit upholstered backing and is tacked ( gold )..appears to be mahogany or cherry chair.. the fabric on seat is coming up and it appears to be stuffed with horses hair.. and also chair has no nails or screws… old woodworking done… gonna sell it online but have no idea what its worth or how to find out.
You should take it to an antique dealer and get them to check out for you. By law, they can’t buy it off you for $10.00 then sell it for a thousands. Even if you do sell it on line, the buyer must tell you if they are an antique dealer. If they are, they have to tell you the correct price etc.
It’s better to go an antique dealer as they will explain in front of you the details of the chair etc. Just say you want to know the value for insurance reasons.
